Lately we have been to our grandmother’s house. It was great fun in the fields.
So when we were to leave there, our grandfather gave us a great surprise, A lovely large jackfruit. Well, a jackfruit is the largest fruit in the world with lot of spines as it’s cover. Insi
de it is layers of golden yellow, very bright . It is very sweet and tasty too. Inside those, are its seeds with which we make tasty side dish, it is a very good medicine for cancer. Surprising !!!
When we reached home my mom was busy separating the different layers of the huge fruit. I and my sister was sitting beside her waiting impatiently. This time we were sure not to finish it like the pickle or infact there was tooooooo much to finish up. We had a great fest, our tummy’s full. Jackfruits are tooo big to finish it in a day or maybe two. My mom told that we should not keep it for tomorrow because it may get spoilt. I ate it till my tummy was full with it.
After a bit I became fed up eating so much though I was eager at first.
Only then did my dad’s dad came with a jackfruit which was given to him by one of his friends. He said that those were very ripe and so it is very sweet. He also said not to keep it for tomorrow because it may get over ripen. I was amazed thinking and tensed of how I will be able to have them too as it is a very big fruit. So I thought of giving this one to my one and only little sister and great deal with the neighbors !!!!!!!
So it ended with all happy ……

I've never heard of Jackfruit before. The seeds look like kernels of corn. I've glad you didn't eat so much your tummy hurt.

Hi Susan:)
I also love jack fruit. The only problem is getting the fruit out of the skin. It is tough job. Of course, if you know the technique, it is easy. Normally, when I buy jack fruit, I pay extra money and tell the fruit vendor to extricate the fruit for me. But in Kochi, the fruit vendors generally don't agree to do this extra work. So I just look at the majestic fruit and keep walking thinking to my self--I WISH I COULD EAT SOME JACK FRUIT!
Since no one is prepared to help me with the task of taking out the fruit, it is a long time since I ate jack fruit. I'm glad you had so much fruit to eat. I think the fruit can be kept in the fridge for a few days. The only problem is that the lovely smell of the fruit is so overpowering it will fill the whole house with its fragrance.
I enjoyed reading your post with the lovely photos.
Have a nice day Susan:)

Susan: It looks like a wonderful fruit and I'm so glad it is good for you.
I have never heard of this fruit, either, but it sounds wonderful. I love most fruits and would probably love this one, too. Sounds like it must be native to your country since so many others have not heard of it. The rest of us will have to do a little research and read up on your jackfruit! Thanks for stopping by. Hope you are having a great weekend.
I've not heard of jack fruit. Sounds interesting though. Huge fruit, I agree.
Ohh! YUMYUM! I love jackfruit! I can imagine the sweetness and juicy flesh of it. Brings back happy memories. Thanks! :)
