Attractive flies!!

It is long since we received rain that our temperatures were shooting up every day. Yesterday night it rained quite heavily at our place. That rain has cleaned the atmosphere. I have learnt that the first rains are dangerous for it washes the atmosphere clean. I didn’t know anything else that took place . Wait till I tell what happened.
I was having a bad cold and cough. So that I went to get rid of this , at the earliest. I am my dad left at dusk so that all the street lights were on. On the way to the clinic I found a lot of insects near the street lights. Under one street light there were more than hundreds of insects fluttering about. When I showed this to my dad he told me that they are a type of ant which developed its wings today morning. I asked my father how he knew that those insects developed its wings today morning. He said that the insects develop their wings in the first rains.
At the doctor’s clinic there were loads of flies as well as lizards. There were many frogs on the road as well. Any way this first rains is a real boon for the lizards and frogs.

We had rain Thursday night, and then it turned to some snow flakes and rain mixed, by morning the rain was frozen and the sidewalks and streets were a mess. Accidents happening everywhere because people weren't slowing down, thinking it was just rain. Ice was all melted by lunch time. Hope your cold is getting better. My husband started with a cough around Dec. 23, and he's still got it, and he's on his fourth antibiotic, hopefully this will knock it out. We've made about 8 trips to the doctor and we have to pay a co-pay of $25.00 each visit, so that soon adds up. Happy week-end to you and your family.

Hi there, I guess the insects love that first rain....

I remember one year when I lived in Texas, we had a drought. Once it rained that first time after the drought, there were wrecks all over the roads because the oil from cars had built up on the roads. Once the roads got wet, that oil became slick --like ice... Weird, huh?????

Hope you keep those insects out of your home!!!
Hugs,
Betsy

Hi Susan:)

Greetings:)

I agree with you rains did cool the temperature. Since it rained early morning I did not know that it had rained. When I got up I found the compound wet.And when I went out I found the some of the plants completely bent because of the gusty wind which came along with the rain.

Very interesting information about the flies.

I hope and pray that you are getting better.

Have a nice day:)
Joseph

Hello! Thank you for your visit to my blog and for leaving a comment. The weather forcast calls for rain here today, and much cooler temperatures, although it will not freeze. It was lovely here yesterday, bright sunshine with a temperature of around 72 degrees- very spring like. Then last night we had thunderstorms and rain.

I think the frogs had a good time trying to catch and eat the insects that came with the rain. A very interesting post.

Swarming insects scare me for my first thought is termites. I always have to hit Google to tell the difference between them and ants.
Enjoy your cleaned up air and get well soon.

The diversity where you are must be huge. So many species. I used to collect moths when I was a kid around the lights near stores. It was a great opportunity to collect some specimens.
