A Vera !!

In my school corridor many ornamental plants are kept. One day me
and my friend was passing by the corridor. I saw a plant that looked
very different from others. It looked very watery and its leaves were
very thick with thorns at edges. In my curiosity I plucked a bit of the
leaf to test what was inside.
Uh hhhhh! A jelly like transparent liquid splashed on to my hand. I
looked inside the leaf, very different it was. Inside it was a jelly like
transparent liquid. The leaf pretended to be a glass filled with cold ice
in it. Of course the jelly had a cooling effect on my hand.
My friend informed me that it was “ ALOE VERA” ,a verity of cactus. She also told me that this plant is of great herbal
value. The jelly liquid inside it is used in most of the soaps and moisturizers. It was new information to me.
Now I am looking forward to get a one in my garden

A Game With Elephant

Today there was a cultural program in my school. As I entered the school gate I saw an elephant standing in the parking lot with its large trunk eating coconut leaves. At first glance itself the elephant looked very friendly and kind. At times it did force air through its large trunk which gave it a crazy look.

The program started with a game of tug of war. This game is played by two teams to check their strength where the ends of a thick rope (vadam) is given to both teams. Once the whistle is blown both the teams starts to pull the rope to their side. Like wise here the game was played between the students and the elephant. Very exiting to hear isn’t it?

The game started. I sat near by with my eyes glued on the elephant. Suddenly the elephant left the rope and turned to my side and made a loud cry. Someone from the back shouted “THE ELEPHANT IS VIOLENT”. Many started running desperately including the principal, the head of the school which caused much more confusion among all. Then my friend too pulled me and ran.

The elephant looked so miserable and sad. Actually nothing had happened only a word from someone had caused such a big fuss.
“ We must not believe things blindly” this is what to learn .
gosh ! poor ELEPHANT…………

A Reward From Nature

Today morning I went out to my garden. I saw five tiny humming bird hopping through the green bushes.
Do you remember the nest that I have mentioned before? Those eggs have hatch in to tiny fearless humming birds and it is them that I see. They danced and sang their songs to make my garden more fresh and lively. This made me a lot happier to start a new day with a great message,
“Do help with your heart the reward will be always with you without your knowledge”

Treasures of Nature

There is park some what near to our home. It is only for our words that it appear to be a park, just a small plot with two swings. There stood three well grown trees. They were very old, even before my birth they stood. I was accustomed to see them there since my birth. Moreover they provided a good shelter and home for many varieties of birds and of course for the visitors too.

When I was very young often I used to go there to watch birds and their lovely nests. It bought an extraordinary excitement in me.

Today as I returned from school I saw a very sad sight
Oh! They had fallen those trees for the wood. Oh! Those trees
marked my childhood. Now they are no more. Only left is some leaves.

Many birds lost their nest along with their siblings.
I saw them a gliding along the clear sky aimlessly with no green spot to see. Many nests I saw on the ground and many siblings crying out with there unknown plight. What can be their future ?
Here I am helpless.
After all this only one thing we got to ponder about
Is it all because of our greediness?

Shadow Life

Today I had library class . I was lucky enough to get a book titled
‘Shadow Life’ written by Barry Denenberg. Actually it is a portrait of
Anne Frank and her family. I found it very interesting.
The author illuminates the story of Anne frank and her family along
with the world in which her family were forced to thrive
during World War 2.
Due to the anti Jewish criticism the family had to flee from Frankfurt
,Germany to Amsterdam where they hoped to lead a normal peaceful
life.
But instead they where once again followed by misery and were forced to go hiding for two years. This
also includes a Frictional diary from Margot, Anne Frank’s elder sister. The
horrifying reality of the last months of the frank family is included in Margot’s diary which spreads
more of life, reality into the reader.

At the end it is very difficult to make our mind believe that such a life was lead by a Jewish family many
years ago and this thought brings an extraordinary pressure in me.

What To Choose?

Today some thing exiting happened in my school.
As I was in the class my class teacher came up to the door and called me off. She looked very mysterious. I was rather surprised with an approach like this.
She informed me that our class was to present the morning assembly for the coming Thursday and she asked me to recite any one of the poems that I had written, on the stage. I was astonished to hear all this because I had not told anyone in my school about my blogs as well as my poems. Then how did my teacher came to know all about this? Very surprising.
Now I am in a big confusion for selecting a poem to recite on the stage.
Which one should I choose ?

A day with Aaaaants!!!!!!!

I was asked by my mother to help her in plucking the mangoes since a lot were falling down. It was a tough time. On our mango tree, there are millions and billions of big ants. When we pluck a mango many ants fall along with it. So we are to be very careful.

My mother took a stick and attached a net onto it for the mangoes not to fall and break. She plucked the first mango which brought a lot of ants with it. They got over me. They started biting me from head to toe. I started fidgeting to get rid of at least two ants. But it was a tough game. I shook and shook and got rid of some but no use, more and more started to climbing over me. I ran from the spot and started getting rid of them. At last everything was out. I had big big bubbles all over my body, but for the all the bites I got a mango as a reward!

A New Year Bonanza

Today my school reopened and it was a good day. I got my exam papers. I was a surprised that I scored full marks for two of those papers.

After school I came back home. My mom was waiting there. She told me that a banana bunch was ready to cut down. It stood right in our compound near the kitchen. She also asked me to help her in cutting the banana bunch. What more to do.
The banana bunch was very huge and thereby heavy too .So me and my mother alone could not help bringing it down. We took the help of my grandfather also.

After a few minutes of hard work we some how bought the huge bunch down. Then we separated the bunch into small bunches and distributed it among our neighbors. I too had two of those lovely bananas. It was a variety of robust so it stood green even though it was ripe. Any way I must admit that those bananas were very special and different from those which I ever had .
